Electric and Hand Filers

Electric Grinder

Sharpen saws on the mandrel. The Pacific/Hoe electric saw bit grinder is highly recommended for sharpening all types of hard bits.

Hand Filer (No Electricity Required)

  • For uniform results and extended life of the bits.
  • Rotary saw filer can be adjusted to achieve the same hook in all teeth.
  • Can be moved from tooth to tooth and clamped on saw quickly.
  • Less material is taken off in filing.
  • Rotary file can be replaced when worn out.
  • Easy to handle.
  • Weighs on five pounds.

Swages

How to File Saw Bits

It should never be necessary to swage the bits. Light filing on the underside is the only thing required to keep them sharp and ready for use.

The cutting point tapers gradually and allows plenty of clearance even though the bit is worn almost entirely way.

When swaging bits in saws, great care should be exercised to avoid damaging the shoulders and sockets.

  • The point of the bit should not be too blunt to enter fully into the V of the swage.
  • It should be filed first so that it fits well into the V, before swaging.
  • Use a light hammer and light blows to avoid damaging the saw.
